IPL Schedule begins on April 3

The wait for the biggest and most glamorous cricket tournament, the IPL Twenty-Twenty Tournament is finally going to come to an end. According to released IPL Schedule 2013, the tournament is going to begin from April 3, 2013 and will go on till May 26, 2013.

There will be a total of 9 teams in the names of Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils, Pune Warriors India and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Kochi Tuskers and Deccan Chargers have been dropped from the IPL due to issues related to contract breach.

The title sponsors for IPL from 2013 to 2017 will be PepsiCo. They replaced DLF after they put forward a winning bid of Rupees 396.8 crores for their 5 year contract. Other changes which have been brought about are changes in the team player forms.

In October 2012, it was announced by BCCI that any number of players can be let go from any team in order to reduce player costs. The players who wouldn’t be a part of the team would be put up for auctions.

This auction is scheduled to be held on February 3, 2013, in Chennai. At the moment, players Michael Clark and Ricky Ponting have the highest reserve for the auction. They each have a price of 400,000 dollars. The list of the players who are undergoing auction includes several players including, Kevin O’ Brian from Ireland, 7 Indian players and these two Australian players and others. Yet again, there are no Pakistani players involved in this auction.
